Why have I been criticizing Cambodia lately?

The reasons are all listed in my recent E-Book and multiple YouTube videos. However, most choose to watch short TikTok or YouTube videos, which only paint a small part of the picture.

The short videos intend to raise interest and draw viewers over to the long-form videos or (even better) to download my E-book, where you can read and view the full story.

I've been criticized online by Cambodians and the rough expats that live there, who claim I don't know what I am talking about. Nothing is further from the truth. I lived in Cambodia for 3 years and got to know it very well.

Despite having 4 phones stolen and my apartment being broken into, resulting in a laptop being nicked, I still kept a smile on my face and continued looking for the positives in the country.

Sadly, I did not find many right until the end of my time there. Was I unlucky? Did I meet the wrong people? Honestly?

I can answer with a clear no to those possibilities. I saw so many foreign tourists going through the same as me, even worse, with phones, handbags, and passports stolen.

Could the rampant petty theft in Phnom Penh be curbed? Yes, it could if the police weren't so lazy and cared, but they are lazy and don't care. When walking the busy streets of Phnom Penh at night, you will be hard pressed to even spot a single police man.

That's a pretty sad state of affairs considering the huge rate of theft going on day and night. Not to mention the number of car and motorbike hit and runs, often resulting in several fatalities.

This isn't just my opinion, it's the sad truth that unfolds daily. Most people don't dare to talk about it out of fear of being arrested. Is that a nice way to have to live, in fear of being shoved in the slammer for speaking out? I don't think so, which is why I left.

The sole reason the cops put him away was to extort him. He didn't even ever get charged with a crime! Think about that.
